Frequently Asked Questions

To start, please reach out to set up an initial brief phone consultation. The purpose of this call is for me to learn a little about you and for you to learn about my practice. If we decide to move forward, we will schedule an initial 60-minute evaluation to take place virtually.  If we determine that you could benefit from more specialized treatment, I will provide suitable referrals.

Dr Ibeh Psychiatry does not accept In-Network insurance at this time. We have found that In-Network insurance limits our ability to provide high quality psychiatric care and we waste tremendous time and energy dealing with administrative issues that take our attention away from you and your treatment.  As a result, we are no longer accepting In-Network insurance clients.  We are considered an Out-Of-Network (OON) provider.  As a courtesy to clients, we will submit a claim for each visit to your Out-Of-Network insurance for reimbursement. However, we will not communicate with OON insurance providers as we need to keep our full attention on you and your treatment.

Please call your insurance company and ask:

  • Do I have coverage for out-of-network mental health outpatient visits?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • What percentage of mental health service fees are covered?
  • How many visits are covered in a calendar year?

As of June 1, 2023 our fees are as follows.  Initial psychiatric evaluations (which are 45 to 60 minutes in duration) are rated at $450 and follow up visits (which include psychotherapy and are 30 to 45 minutes in duration) are rated at $350.  As with any industry, rates will change with the market over time.  In accordance with the “No Surprises Act” that went into effect January 1, 2022, you have the right to request a “Good Faith Estimate” of the expected cost of my services.  However, here is how treatment proceeds in most cases.  Most patients need 2 Consultation visits (1 week apart) and then 1-2 Follow Up Visits in the first 3 months of treatment.  Usually by the 5th-6th visit patients are largely doing well enough to be seen less frequently.  Stable patients are seen every 3-6 months (usually only 2-4 times a year) depending on the patient’s stability and therapeutic goals.

Presently we accept payment via credit card (including FSA/HSA), Paypal, StripeZelle, and Venmo. All fees are due at time of service.

In order to ensure the ability to provide timely appointments, I request a minimum of 24 hours notice to cancel your appointment. Any cancelations that are provided at least 24 hours prior to the appointment time will not be charged. In the event that the client does not provide notice or cancels with less than 24 hours’ notice, the full fee will be charged.

Currently I am licensed to treat patients located throughout New York and New Jersey. I am not able to continue treating you if you plan to move to a state outside of the two mentioned.
